Commercial Trucking Insurance Florida

From Liability to Cargo, we keep you covered

Commercial Trucking Insurance Florida

Truck Driver

Starting a trucking company is a difficult task that requires a large amount of paperwork. You must comply with the Department of Transportation in addition to purchasing trucks and hiring drivers for your fleet. If you are going to operate intrastate you are going to need an MC number. Motor Carrier authorization will activate once you have the appropriate insurance coverage.

There are several types of commercial insurance that any trucking company should have. Fortunately, Orbis Insurance Group employs trained and licensed agents who will ensure you are compliant and ready for anything that might come your way. We offer comprehensive commercial trucking insurance packages that meet all of your trucking requirements!

Options in Coverage

  • Liability
  • Cargo
  • Physical Damage
  • Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
  • General Liability
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist
  • Non-trucking Liability

What is covered under your policy?

A trucking and transportation policy, like most other vehicle insurance policies, includes a variety of coverage options. Each of these types of coverage is intended to protect both your specific business and your personal assets from catastrophic loss.

Trucking laws are very specific, so you will need a well-put-together insurance policy specifically designed for your needs. There are slightly different insurance laws and requirements depending on what type of vehicle a driver is operating and what that truck is used for.

Coverage for one vehicle or any size fleet

A trucking company that employs ten people is going to have different needs than a single-person operation. We value every one of our customers and provide stellar service to every company we serve, large and small. From the time you fill out our form, we will work hard to impress you and let you impress your customers.

Straight Trucks

Straight trucks include those that are used for moving and those that are used for garbage removal. They are also referred to as box trucks. The price you will pay for this kind of insurance will depend upon driving histories, the area you operate in, what you haul, and the number of trucks you have in your fleet.

Intermodal Transportation

Intermodal transportation simply involves using more than one form of transportation to get products from one place to another. If your trucks pick up cargo from docks or airports, we can provide you with this type of insurance

Truckers that haul containers must have a UIIA (Uniform Intermodal Interchange and Facilities Access Agreement). You will not be allowed into a port or rail yard without this agreement. If you lease the chassis you use, you will need non-owner insurance and trailer interchange coverage to protect your cargo.

Auto Haulers

We understand what a difficult job it is to haul automobiles. Regular commercial insurance is not enough to cover a company that handles auto hauling.

Our company is staffed with trucking industry experts who specialize in trucking insurance and compliance. In addition to obtaining the appropriate kind of insurance, auto haulers need additional certification to be compliant.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires auto haulers to carry at least  $1 million of insurance.

UIIA & Trailer Interchange Available

When a trucking company shares a haul with other trucking companies, they will transfer the trailer from their truck to the other company’s truck. In order to do this legally, the companies must have an interchange agreement. This is a contract between the two companies with the details of liability for damages.

The contract will normally say that the company that is pulling the trailer at the time of the accident is responsible for damages to the trailer, the cargo, and any medical bills that are associated with the accident. However, there are some exceptions to the rules.

We can write you an air-tight policy that will protect your property and your drivers. When we partner with your company, we work hard to ensure that you are covered in the case of an accident.

Local, Intermediate, and Long Haul

No matter where you go, we will be there for you. We can provide local insurance for trucking companies that only do interstate runs. If you operate regionally or all over the country, we can create a plan that will keep costs down and cover you wherever you go.

Mixed Radius

Most trucking companies have many different trucks that take hauls of all different lengths. We will make a comprehensive plan for you that will cover each of your trucks no matter the distance they travel.

You will need specific types of cargo insurance as well. A company that operates a reefer truck must insure the products inside the refrigerated trailer against physical damage and spoilage.

Florida commercial truck insurance has special provisions for dry goods haulers as well. It rains often in Florida, and a load of dry goods is especially susceptible to damage from rain. We can build you the perfect Florida truck insurance policy.

Liability Insurance

This policy will cover you from liability if you or your driver have been involved in an accident and deemed to be at fault. Your liability insurance will cover bodily injury claims, giving financial assistance for the injured party’s medical bills. Your liability coverage will cover any property damage that occurs as a result of the collision. Whether or not you are found to be at fault, your liability insurance will pay the expense for your defense if legal action is brought against you due to the accident.

The Department of Transportation requires commercial truck drivers to have insurance coverage ranging from $750,000 to $1,000,000. The amount of insurance you’ll need is determined by the size of the vehicle, the distance it will travel, and the type of cargo you will be transporting.

Florida Trucking Insurance – Uninsured Motorist (UM)

This policy will pay for your injuries if your vehicle is damaged or you are injured in an accident caused by someone who does not have enough auto insurance coverage. Uninsured motorists in Florida will only pay for medical coverage, not property damage.

We will make sure you have the right insurance coverage for all your compliance and safety needs. Commercial truck insurance companies know what small trucking companies need, and Orbis Insurance Group has been serving small companies for over 20 years. We can give you the best commercial truck insurance quotes in the business.

Motor Truck Cargo Insurance

This is a type of inland marine insurance that protects goods and property that are being transported by a motor carrier.

You are required to have insurance for the cargo that your truck drivers carry when you own a professional trucking company. You want your clients to entrust their valuable products with you, and they will want to make sure you are insured before they sign a contract with you.

Your drivers take products on a long journey, and you don’t know what the road might bring. Cargo insurance will cover products damaged during an accident and will also cover stolen goods.

Although modern trucks have excellent security systems, commercial truck drivers are bound to make human mistakes, and when security equipment gets more sophisticated, so do thieves. The supply chain shortage is likely to increase cargo theft and piracy of commercial vehicles. We will make sure that your cargo is 100% covered so that your clients will know that their products are safe no matter what. Having cargo insurance is important to any commercial trucking business. We want to make sure that the company you’ve built from the ground up is safe and has a good reputation.

Physical Damage

This is a type of coverage that protects the insured’s vehicle from damage. Perils such as collision, vandalism, and fire are all covered.

Your trucks are expensive, and even though they are big and heavy, they can still get damaged in an accident. It is important to make sure your trucks are paid for if your driver should be involved in an accident. Trucks may be damaged by natural disasters and road conditions as well. It is hard enough to buy trucks when you are a small business; we want to protect your investment.

Non-Trucking Liability (Bobtail)

This policy covers Owner Operators leased to a trucking company if they have an accident when they are using the truck for non-business reasons.

Trucker’s General Liability

Not to be confused with Trucker’s Auto Liability. It can protect your company from risks unrelated to truck operation, like someone slipping and falling in your office.

A trucking company is always busy. You have workers moving back and forth. You also have clients visiting you, people applying for jobs, and companies delivering products you need for your day-to-day operations. With all those people coming in and out of your facility, an accident is bound to happen at some point.

One of our licensed insurance agents will provide insurance that covers anything that might go wrong at your facility. You have worked too hard to build your business to lose it to a personal injury lawsuit. With us, you will be 100% covered.

Trailer Interchange

This policy provides physical damage coverage for trailers being pulled via a trailer interchange agreement. If the trailer is damaged due to a collision, fire, theft, explosion, or vandalism, this type of insurance will cover you.

Commercial trucking insurance is required in Florida before you can begin doing business. Other companies may offer trucker insurance, but they are unlikely to have the same expertise as we have. For a free quote, give us a call or go to our website. No one understands trucking like we do!
